A XYZ file only contain straight segments. We must adjust the trajectory to incorporate the curves. There are 3 ways we can do that:

Preserve segments length: Each straight segment length will be preserved, the geometry of the trajectory will be altered and the total length will be greater
Preserve geometry: The geometry (location of straight segment) will be preserved, the length of each segment will be altered to accommodate curve segment
Preserve total length: The total length of the trajectory will be preserved, the length of each straight segment will be shorter and the geometry will be altered
